was born in Vienna and studied at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien (today's University for Music and Performing Arts), organ with Peter Planyavsky, piano, orchestral conducting, composition, church music, finishing with his Master of Arts degree.
Additionally he actively participated in master classes (Chapuis, Darasse, Koopman, Kooiman) and began his recital career as pianist and organist, performing in Europe, the USA, South Africa, China, Australia and New Zealand. He played together with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Viennese Symphonic, Tonkünstler Orchestra, amongst many others. He has given premieres of contemporary music, played organ inauguration recitals, made CD recordings and performed within live broadcasts for TV and radio. While employed as an opera conductor at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, he appeared as conductor of operas and symphonic music. Elmo Cosentini has given lectures, master classes and workshops at universities and conventions (Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Scots' Church in Melbourne, National Convention of the American Guild of Organists) and teaches at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where he earned a doctoral degree (on Rachmaninoff's piano music). He is the organist at the Parish of Heiligenstadt as well as at the Parish of St. Augustin in Vienna, a church with a great music tradition.
