Anders Johnsson has pursued organ studies under Per Rydén, Hans Hellsten, Mikael Wahlin and Jean Boyer, as well as in the master’s class at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen led by Hans Fagius. The studies in Copenhagen concluded with a 1999 solo debut in that city. Prior to the studies in the Danish capital, he studied musicology at the University of Lund and completed the church organist, cantor and Baroque programmes at the Malmö Academy of Music. He has served as organist at such venues as the Lund Cathedral and the Caroli, St. Petri Churches and St. Pauli in Malmö. Since 2000 he has served as organist in St. Andreas Church in the same city.
Currently he teaches various courses in the organist programme at the Malmö Academy of Music, including organ constructing and organ interpretation. He is frequently engaged as an organ consultant in the southern parts of Sweden.
The mainstay of his repertoire is Swedish and French romantic organ-music. Anders Johnsson gives concerts in Sweden and abroad and has recorded for Swedish Radio and different CD’s productions on the labels Naxos and Proprius.
